Key Shielding Elements
RF Shielding Wall and Ceiling Panels
The shielding itself is produced from modular panels, covered in electro-deposited copper foil. These panels are designed to be modified on site to allow them to be precisely tailored to the application.
RF Flooring
There are two main options for RF Shielding a floor. One is to use a foil and screed system which, whilst robust and effective, is difficult to adapt if the MRI Magnet type changes during the lifetime of the the diagnostic centre. The second is a foil based floating floor solution, now favoured in most applications due to its inherent flexibility to accomodate upgrade changes and the ease of installation.
RF Doors
There are a range of MRI Examination Room doors available all of which provide excellent shielding performance and ease of use:
RF Windows
It is customary to include a window between the control room and the examination room. Using ETS-Lindgren's ClearShield Windows provides Radiographers with a clear view of the MRI unit and the patient without compromising RF Shielding performance. These are available in a range of sizes and incorporate safety glass as standard and even include an LCD Dimming Option with the introduction of the ClearShield S-Glass option.
RF Filters and Interface Accessories
In order to provide power and data connections through the shielding into the MRI exam room, it is neccessary to use RF Filters. These electronic devices remove undesired RF energy from power and data lines before it can enter the shielded volume.
Most MRI Vendors and Models have unique interface requirements. Having worked with every major MRI magnet manufacturer we have access to an extensive library of the interface components for each model so that integrating the MRI unit is as painless and efficient as possible.

Space-Saver Architectural Shielding for MRI
Where space is at a premium, as can often be the case in multi-site installations, installing a free-standing modular panel system can take up valuable space which is needed to use and service the MRI. Response MRI have developed a space saving shielding solution which uses the existing parent structure to host shielding foils and fabrics to achieve a similar performance to modular panel systems. This system also incorporates the key elements from the ETS-Lindgren range like doors, windows, RF Filters, Waveguide Air Vents and fittings. |

It is common to carry out a Shielding Effectiveness Test after installation, fit-out or modification and as part of a planned maintenance regime to ensure that the initial high performance is maintained throughout the life of the MRI Installation.

Testing is carried out to EN50147-1 which is equivalent to Mil-Std 285 and IEEE-299-1 by Certified RF Test Engineers and is available as a complementary or standalone service.
